The New Britain Rock Cats ended their 2008 season on a positive note by beating the Binghamton Mets, 3-1, on a late summer day just made for baseball.
Kyle Aselton tossed 5 shutout innings. Toby Gardenhire, presented the team's 10th palyer award before the game, had two hits. Rob Delaney earned his fifth save.
The Rock Cats were a smash at the box office, finishing with a franchise-record 365,758. They also entertained the biggest single crowd in their history when 8,115 packed into the 6,146-seat stadium known as The Emerald of the Eastern League for a doubleheader with Portland July 12.
