The Rock Cats have had their bad games but Monday night's massacre in Reading may go down in infamy.
The hitters pounded Kip Bouknight for eight runs on 10 hits before he could get an out in the second inning. New Britain held an 8-1 lead, but not for long.
Reading pummelled three pitchers for 12 unanswered runs while the Rock Cats managed just two hits against three Phillies relievers from the second through the ninth.
Reading scored in every inning except the fifth as the Rock Cats fell for the 9th time in 12 games. Can the night get much darker?
